Sew Fab Pattern Tour - the Norah Dress

Hello, today I am excited to be a part of the Sew Fab Pattern Tour! I love this sale each season and this time I got to sew up something for my baby niece.

I was given this wonderful retro print fabric to make some girls clothes, but it is a bit thicker then regular cotton. I am sure it is drill so I didn't think it would work too well for skirts. I decided on a basic a-line shaped dress for winter.

Well. I searched high and low for a basic A-line dress pattern and I wasn't too happy about the choices. When I was asked by Jenny if I would like to sew along with the tour, I was so so happy to see the Mouse House Creations Norah dress and tunic on the list! It was perfect.

Of course I love the collar details and sleeved versions, but the basic a-line shape was just what I was after!

I had not yet added a button when I took these pictures, big rush before the trip and all. I left all the hand sewing for some nights around the camp when things get a bit dull :)

Oh and looking at the back here... I realise the pattern matching was pretty non-existent. The print was off grain and I made the decision not to worry too much about it.

I really love the Norah pattern and I can see myself making quite a few more for the girls in my life. It is a really solid staple pattern in this seasons bundle. So guys, the Sew Fab sale ends tomorrow! Go get it quickly!

Puperita Bright Flowers Baby Dress

Our little baby niece is coming to visit and of course I had to sew for the occasion!

A few weeks ago I was chatting to the lovely Miss Annalisa from Puperita Patterns about my PDF pattern designers list. This prompted me to have a browse in her pattern shop and I found the perfect baby dress for winter (you know, being in the southern hemisphere and all).

So here is my Bright Flowers Baby Dress :)

 

The main fabric has a tiny criss-cross pattern. It is subtle without making the dress look too plain. The lining was cut from a vintage tablecloth. It is so soft from all the years of washing!

Baby Perennial Dress

A couple of months ago, Suz from Sew Pony released a gorgeous dress pattern that I knew I wanted to sew up. I used the smallest size of The Perennial Dress, and I love the results.

Baby Dress - Free Sewing Pattern and Tutorial

Inspired by my tiny pink baby dress, I wanted to create one in a similar style in a larger size. When giving baby gifts, I like to give larger sized clothing as well as newborn.

I couldn't find a free pattern for what I was after. I can't really afford to buy lots of girls patterns, seeing as I have two boys and will never get much use out of them.

Here is the dress I came up with.

Instead of puchasing a pattern, I decided to have a go at making one myself. This style really only needs a simple bodice pattern.

Little Geranium Dress

Since I started sewing, my main efforts have been sewing for my two boys. A few months ago I learned that a dear family member is expecting a baby girl and I was super excited!

YAY! Babies are so fun to sew for, and especially baby girls. Around the same time, Rae released the 0 - 3 month size Geranium for free, so I just had to try it out :)
