KCW Wrap Up

So how did everyone go for this season of KCW?

Some bloggers have done an amazing job of producing lots of garments for their kids, others have struggled. I am in the second category. I also had a very difficult time with my picture taking!

This morning I made up for Sunday, because I did 0 minutes sewing on Sunday. Sunday is one day that is always guaranteed to be a busy day in this house. And anyway KCW is still going, its still day 7 in the US :)

My Clean Slate Pants are now finished. I did French seams on most seams, I couldn't be bothered with bias tape so the inside of the welt pockets were overlocked on my sewing machine.

I had 2 pretty bad unpicking incidents, just from rushing and not thinking properly. Speed sewing and myself are not good friends. The front pockets are cut straight instead of having a slight curve. They are not functioning pockets, I created another pattern piece so there is a seam line there but no pocket bag.

They are super skinny on Elijah, maybe from using French Seams? The front fly is a working fly, my second one ever.

I also finalized my PJ pants pattern, ready for release this week. I cant wait to publish it! I also want to show you the results of testing done by some wonderful ladies from the Sew Jereli Facebook page.

So I got my 7 hours in for the KCW week. So I'm going to give myself a pass grade, but certainly not an A+.

How did you guys fare? Next season of KCW is in 3 months, are you up for it? x

  1. Congrats for achieving your KCW goals! Those pants look great! I'm not sure that I could pull something off that technical... not without a LOT of unpicking!
Can't wait to see your PJ tutorial... I had pj's on my KCW list, but I might just wait for your pattern now. The one's I've seen from the pattern testers look great :)
I got a little stuck halfway through KCW, but I'm almost there. Just need to hem a dress for Hannah this morning and add the buttons... then I can blog about my fails and triumphs.

  2. The pants turned out great! They must look lovely on the inside too with all those French Seams. I didn't get any sewing done yesterday either, we were out of the house ALL day, but I got 7 hours all up, so I'm happy. Photos are definitely the hardest part!!

  3. I didn't count the hours - I just worked to my to-do list. I don't think it was 7 hours though - maybe a bit less! The pants and the pjs look great :)

  4. I think you should be proud of your KCW achievements, especially if you did french seams and all those other details in the pants. The welt pockets look perfect and the fly looks spot on, too. I didn't get as much done as I would have hoped either. Maybe next time?

  5. The pants look fantastic, so I'm going to have a go at your pjs when you put the pattern up, I refrained from bring a tester...just in case I sucked and it people thought it was a reflection of your pattern and not my terrible sewing :)

  6. Your Clean Slate trousers are very smart - what material did you use to make them?
